Jonathan has worked in the engineering industry for over 21 years for multinational corporations SMEC, RIL, FTL and ASI and Cooma based consultancies CSD Engineering and G.O. Engineering. His current roles include senior design draftsman for WGA (Brisbane) and senior survey draftsman for Cooma based Jack Atkinson Surveying. His career highlights include the role of Civil Design Manager for the PVUDP, a USD$35.6M urban infrastructure project in Vanuatu and the role of Physical Model Technician, responsible for the design, construction management and testing of the largest physical hydraulic model ever built in Australia, the Dartmouth Dam Spillway Model Study. Prior to SMEC ceasing operations in Cooma, Jonathan was the last person based in Cooma to work for their Civil Infrastructure Group, the last draftsman and the last physical model technician to conduct model studies and to maintain and operate the fluid mechanics laboratory. Jonathan joined the SMEC Technical Centre Working Group (now H1HC) in March 2019. He has been crucial in the development and delivery of many milestones including a 2019 business case, Facebook page, promotional brochure and videos, grant applications and online membership forms. He is currently serving his second term as treasurer. Jonathan’s community involvements include 20 years continuous involvement and service to the Cooma Hash House Harriers, and has held the position of Grand Master for the past 6 years. Jonathan was born and lives in Cooma and has a passion for all aspects of Snowy Monaro history and is an advocate for its preservation and celebration.
